Wi-Fi chip maker Celeno attracts more investors


MANHASSET, N.Y. -- Wi-Fi chip specialist Celeno Communications said it has raised an additional $24 million in its latest funding round.

The over-subscribed round included current investors Cisco, Liberty Global, Greylock Partners and Pitango Venture Capital along with new investor Vintage Investment Partners. The latest round brings the company’s total funding to more than $68 million.

The fabless chip maker (Ra'anana, Israel) develops high-performance Wi-Fi chips and software for HD multimedia and data home networking applications.

Celeno said the new funding will be used to expand development of its 802.11ac project. The company claims its chips are deployed with over 75 service providers, including Deutsche Telekom, Liberty Global, UPC, Bouygues Telecom and China Telecom.
